Frequently Asked Questions

Simple, clear answers to your mentorship questions

Does Mentorgain support structured mentoring journeys?

Yes. Mentorgain includes customizable mentoring journeys with session guides, tasks, prompts, surveys, reminders, and checkpoints to ensure every mentoring relationship stays on track.

Is Mentorgain easy to use for new employees or non-technical users?

Yes. Mentorgain is designed to be intuitive and simple. Most users get comfortable within minutes, and we support them with onboarding emails, tooltips, that guide them through each step.

Is Mentorgain compliant with GDPR/SOC2?

Mentorgain is GDPR-aware and SOC2-ready. We follow best practices for data protection, encryption, and access control, and are moving toward full certification.

Do you offer discounts for non-profits or educational institutions?

Yes, special pricing is available for academia, nonprofits, and social-impact programs.

How does the matching algorithm work?

Mentorgain’s matching engine considers skills, interests, experience, goals, department, and preferences to recommend the most relevant mentor-mentee pairings. Mentees can also choose mentors manually if you allow that option. Alternately, program coordinators can assign mentors to mentees too.

Is there a contract lock-in?

We typically follow annual subscriptions. Multi-year or enterprise agreements can be arranged based on your needs.

Do mentors need training to use the platform?

Not necessarily- Mentorgain provides in-platform guidance and session resources. However, we can also conduct mentor training workshops for organizations that prefer a structured rollout.

How is Mentorgain different from Chronus, Together Platform, or MentorCliq?

Mentorgain is built keeping in minf mid-market and fast-growing organisations that want enterprise-grade mentorship without enterprise-level pricing or complexity. Unlike Chronus or Together Platform - which start at $10,000–$15,000 per year and are designed primarily for large Western enterprises - Mentorgain offers full-featured structured mentoring starting at USD 3,200 per year, with go-live in 1–2 weeks rather than 6–12 weeks. Mentorgain also provides IST-aligned customer support and workflows designed for how organisations in India, Southeast Asia, and APAC actually run people programs.

Is Mentorgain suitable for mid-sized companies, or is it only for large enterprises?

Mentorgain is designed to work well for organisations from 50 to 10,000 employees. Most enterprise mentoring platforms are built and priced for Fortune 500 deployments, making them inaccessible for growing mid-market companies. Mentorgain's tiered pricing — starting with plans for up to 100 users — and fast implementation mean that a 200-person company can run the same quality of structured mentoring program that large enterprises run, at a fraction of the cost and effort.

What does mentoring software typically cost, and how does Mentorgain's pricing compare?

Most mentoring software platforms do not publish pricing publicly and typically charge starting $8,000 per year depending on user count and features. Mentorgain publishes transparent pricing starting at USD 3,200 per year for up to 100 users, making it one of the most affordable structured mentoring platforms available. There are no hidden implementation fees or per-session charges. Enterprise pricing is available for organisations with more than 500 users.

Can I switch to Mentorgain from another mentoring platform without losing program data or momentum?

Yes. Mentorgain's onboarding team supports migration from spreadsheets or other mentoring platforms, including participant data, program structure, and historical matching records where available. Most organisations complete the transition and go live within two weeks. We provide templates, communication support, and a structured handoff process so your mentoring program continues without disruption during the switch.

Can Mentorgain support multiple mentoring programs running at the same time?

Yes. Organisations can run several concurrent programs on Mentorgain - for example, a new hire onboarding program, a women in leadership initiative, and a cross-functional knowledge-sharing program — all within the same platform. Each program has its own matching rules, session structure, goals, and reporting. HR administrators manage all programs from a single dashboard with full visibility across each.

Does Mentorgain support reverse mentoring and peer mentoring, or only traditional top-down mentoring?

Mentorgain supports multiple mentoring formats: traditional one-on-one mentoring, reverse mentoring (where junior employees mentor senior leaders on topics like technology or generational trends), peer mentoring (same-level colleagues supporting each other), and group mentoring through Mentorship Labs. Program coordinators can configure the relationship structure, matching direction, and program goals for each format independently.

How does Mentorgain support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mentoring programs?

Mentorgain allows organisations to build DEI-specific mentoring programs targeting underrepresented groups, women in leadership pipelines, first-generation professionals, or employees from specific backgrounds. Matching parameters can include diversity attributes (where appropriate and consent is given), and program reporting can track participation and outcomes by cohort.

Can Mentorgain be used for leadership development and succession planning?

Yes. Mentorgain is widely used to build leadership pipelines by pairing high-potential employees with senior leaders. The platform supports structured development journeys, goal setting aligned to leadership competency frameworks, 360-degree feedback integration, and progress tracking visible to both HR and the mentee's manager. This makes it a practical tool for succession planning — giving HR teams clear data on which emerging leaders are receiving development investment and progressing toward readiness.

What happens if a mentor or mentee is inactive or the relationship stalls?

Mentorgain has built-in mechanisms to detect and address disengaged relationships. The platform sends automated nudges to mentors and mentees when sessions are overdue, goals are stagnant, or check-ins haven't happened. Program coordinators receive alerts via the admin dashboard so they can intervene early — reassigning participants, sending encouragement, or adjusting program structure. This is one of the biggest gaps in ad-hoc or spreadsheet-run programs, which have no visibility into relationship health until it's too late.

Can Mentorgain scale from a pilot program to an organisation-wide rollout?

Yes. Many organisations start with a pilot cohort of 20–50 participants, validate outcomes, and then scale to the full organisation. Mentorgain's infrastructure supports this growth without requiring platform changes. Pricing scales with user count, and the platform's reporting tools make it straightforward to present pilot results to leadership and build the internal business case for a wider rollout.

Can mentors and mentees set goals?

Absolutely. Mentorgain offers SMART goal templates, progress tracking, task assignments, and automated reminders. Admins can monitor goal completion and development progress across the organization.

How long does implementation take?

Most organizations go live within 1–2 weeks, depending on the level of customization and number of users.

Do you offer onboarding support?

Yes. Our team helps with admin setup, customizing parameters, and supporting your initial rollout. Additional training sessions can be arranged as needed.

Will AI replace human mentors?

No. AI enhances the experience by providing nudges, insights, and suggestions, but human mentorship remains at the core. Organizations can choose fully human, hybrid, or AI-supported models.

Can Mentorgain help us design our mentoring program?

Yes. We assist with program structure, matching rules, communication templates, session guides, and metrics to ensure a successful rollout.

How do we measure the success of our mentoring program?

You can track participation, session completion, feedback scores, goal progress, engagement levels, mentor effectiveness, and overall program impact through built-in dashboards and reports.

How do we get employees to actually participate in a mentoring program?

Adoption is the most common challenge organisations face with mentoring programs. Mentorgain addresses this through automated onboarding emails, in-platform nudges, structured session frameworks that reduce the burden on mentors, and visible goal progress that keeps mentees motivated. Our onboarding team also advises on internal communication strategies, launch events, and manager involvement — all of which significantly improve participation rates. Organisations that use a structured platform rather than informal matching typically see 2–3x higher completion rates.
